Supporting Local Cultivators Through Seeds & Organic Manure

Charhajare | 9 September 2026: The Sangai Foundation distributed cabbage seeds, onion seeds, maize seeds and organic manure to villagers and cultivators of Charhajare village on 9 September 2026 as part of its efforts to support local farming and encourage community-based agricultural activities.

Agriculture remains an important source of livelihood for many families in rural communities. Access to quality seeds and suitable agricultural inputs can help cultivators make better use of their available land and take up seasonal cultivation. With this in mind, the Foundation undertook the distribution programme to provide practical support to local farmers and villagers.

The seeds distributed during the programme intended to support different types of seasonal crops and provide cultivators with materials that can be used in their fields and kitchen gardens. By making agricultural inputs available at the community level, the initiative aimed to encourage people to continue and strengthen local cultivation practices.

The Foundation also sees value in promoting the use of organic manure as part of more environmentally responsible farming practices. Along with supporting crop cultivation, organic inputs can contribute to maintaining soil health when used appropriately as part of a balanced farming approach.

For The Sangai Foundation, community development is closely connected with understanding local needs and supporting practical solutions. An agricultural input distribution programme may be a small intervention, but it can provide useful assistance to cultivators at the beginning of a growing season.

More importantly, such initiatives create an opportunity for the Foundation to engage directly with villagers and understand the realities and challenges faced by local cultivators. The Foundation believes that community participation and local knowledge are important in developing initiatives that are relevant and useful to the people they are intended to serve.

The Foundation will continue to explore practical ways of supporting rural communities, particularly initiatives that encourage local livelihoods, responsible use of natural resources and greater community participation.

Through such small but meaningful efforts, The Sangai Foundation aims to contribute to building stronger and more self-reliant communities at the grassroots level.
